The 27th Annual Symposium on Nonhuman Primate Models for AIDS is being hosted by the New England Primate Research Center and will be held at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston from October 28 to 31st, 2009. The Hyatt Harborside is located on the Boston Harbor Waterfront less than one mile from Logan International Airport. The hotel overlooks the Boston skyline and historic waterfront area, which are conveniently accessible by water taxi.
This annual conference is the leading forum for the exchange of the latest developments in AIDS research using nonhuman primates. Special this year, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of NIAID, will deliver the meeting's opening address on the evening of the welcome reception. Dr. Peter Parham from Stanford University, School of Medicine will deliver the keynote address at the start of the scientific sessions.
The symposium will consist of five sessions focusing on nonhuman primate research utilizing SIV, HIV, and other primate lentiviruses. The co-chairs of the meeting are Amitinder Kaur and David Evans. The scientific sessions will include Pathogenesis co-chaired by Vanessa Hirsch & Susan Westmoreland, Immunology co-chaired by Ulrich Von Andrian & Paul Johnson, Virology co-chaired by Theodora Hatziioannou & Ron Desrosiers, Vaccines/Prevention co-chaired by Dan Barouch & David Evans, and Genetics/Genomics co-chaired by Mary Carrington & Welkin Johnson.
This year's Friday night banquet will be held at the beautiful John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. We hope you will be able to join us in Boston for this year's symposium.
